Rusk Sound Studios

Rusk Sound Studios is a recording studio located at 1556 North La Brea Avenue in Hollywood, California, centrally located in the heart of Hollywood.

Since the 1978, Rusk has been the home to recordings by artists such as Elton John, Brittney Spears, One Direction, Donna Summer, Placido Domingo, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Barry Manilow among others.

Built in the 1920s, Rusk building was originally home to the legendary Liberty Records. Liberty, one of the most successful independent record labels at the time with its own recording facility that was responsible for recording array of the 50’s and 60’s stars like Sam Cook, Jackie DeShannon, Willie Nelson, Henry Mancini, Bobby Vee and was the birth place of the original Chipmunks recording.

Soon after relocation of Liberty Records, the studio became ID Sound Recorders. In the late 1960s and 1970s the ID Sound Recorders was the birthplace of classic records by artists like Beach Boys, Todd Rundgren, The Doors, Canned Heat and many more.

Rusk Sound Studios was designed by Vincent van Haaff and Engineer Tom Hidley from the Westlake Audio and studios fame.

Rusk Sound Studios is a multi room facility and home to a custom modified Neve V series and a SSL E/G console. Rusk is renowned for its extensive inventory of vintage microphones, Vintage musical instruments and variety of outboard gear.

Rusk Sound Studios is been credited for recording Many major motion picture and television soundtracks, including The Last of the Mohicans, The Mummy 3, Twins, XXX, The Mask, Ghostbusters and others.
